The Astoria

A Belle Époque palace built for the 1910 World's Fair, awakened after years of silence.

The House

For much of the twentieth century, the Grand Hotel Astoria was the address in Brussels — a monument of carved stone and gilt on Rue Royale, opened in time for the Universal Exhibition of 1910 and frequented by royalty, statesmen and celebrities. Then, in the late 2000s, its doors closed, and the great building waited.

Corinthia Hotels took on the task of bringing the palace back. The restoration was long and exacting: façades, decorative ceilings and historic salons were conserved, while the structure behind them was rebuilt to modern standards. The result, now trading as Corinthia Grand Hotel Astoria Brussels, is the city's most ambitious hotel revival in generations.

The Belle Époque spirit remains the headline. Expect lofty public rooms, sculpted details and a sense of occasion that suits celebrations — balanced by contemporary rooms and the calm efficiency the Corinthia brand is known for in London, Rome and beyond.

"The Astoria isn't simply restored; it has been given back to Brussels as a living room of the Royal Quarter."Jollyjunctioncottages editorial

Rooms & Suites

Rooms reinterpret the Belle Époque in a quieter key — soft, champagne-toned palettes, fine joinery and marble bathrooms — rather than reproducing period clutter. Suites in the historic part of the building are the most atmospheric, some with views along Rue Royale toward the Congress Column or across the rooftops of the Lower Town.

Dining & Bars

Dining is conceived as part of the hotel's return to civic life, with restaurant and bar spaces designed to welcome Brussels residents as well as guests. The historic public rooms are ideal for afternoon tea-style occasions and pre-theatre drinks before the nearby Cirque Royal or Botanique concerts. Check the official website for current outlets and opening hours.
